Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK), has officially announced the appointment of Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyachie as the institution’s new substantive Vice Chancellor. His appointment takes effect November 19, 2025.

According to a statement from the Governing Council, Professor Anyachie was appointed for a single, non-renewable tenure of five (5) years. The appointment was approved by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Barr. Monsur Kukoyi Olugbenga, on November 16, 2025.

About the New Vice Chancellor

Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyachie is a highly respected Professor of Physiology and Clinical Measurement, known for his contributions to academic research, university development, and mentorship within the Nigerian higher education system.

He takes over from Professor Dame Carol Chinyelugo Arinze Mobi, who has been serving as the Acting Vice Chancellor.
