The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has released the full, updated guidelines for the 2025/2026 screening and registration process for all newly admitted UTME and Direct Entry students. This exercise is compulsory and strictly faculty-based, meaning freshers must appear at the right faculty, on the right date, with all required documents to complete their clearance and officially confirm their admission.

This comprehensive guide walks you through every stage from toxicology screening to online uploads, physical screening, fee payment and final departmental registration ensuring you avoid mistakes and complete each step without delays.

Overview of the UNILAG Screening & Registration Exercise

  • Start Date: Monday, 17 November 2025
  • End Date: Friday, 28 November 2025
  • Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. daily
  • Mode: Faculty-based screening on the UNILAG main campus

New students must arrive early with properly arranged and photocopied documents for swift processing.

Stage 1: UNILAG Toxicology Screening (Mandatory)

All admitted students must undergo and pass the compulsory toxicology test before any registration activities.

Key points:

  • Payment for the toxicology test is required.
  • Only students who pass can proceed to registration.
  • Keep your toxicology test result and present it at your faculty during physical screening.

Stage 2: Booking Registration Appointment

Appointment booking opens Friday, 14 November 2025.

Steps to book your screening appointment:

  1. Visit the UNILAG student portal.
  2. Log in using your UTME/Application Number and surname (lowercase).
  3. Change your default password.
  4. Click “Appointment”  “New Appointment.”
  5. Choose the correct faculty and session.
  6. Schedule your appointment and print the Booking Slip.

You must present this slip at the screening venue.

Stage 3: Uploading Documents on the UNILAG Portal

Students must upload clean, readable copies of:

  • JAMB Admission Letter
  • O’Level Certificate (or online printout)
  • Secondary school testimonial
  • Birth Certificate
  • Reference Letter (addressed to The Registrar, UNILAG)
  • State of Origin Certificate
  • Previous degree/qualification (DE candidates)

After uploading, print the Screening Form.

Stage 4: Physical Screening at the Faculty

On your appointment date, submit two photocopies each of:

  • Toxicology result
  • Screening Form
  • Admission Letter
  • UTME/POST-UTME results
  • O’Level Certificate
  • Reference Letter
  • Birth Certificate
  • Testimonial
  • State of Origin Certificate
  • 12 passport photographs

Bring originals for verification.

Stage 5: Payment of Fees

Once you are cleared:

  • Generate the Payment Advice on the portal
  • Pay at any commercial bank or via online payment
  • Keep all receipts safe

Stage 6: Faculty & Departmental Registration

After payment confirmation, proceed to your faculty/department for:

  • Final documentation
  • Completion of departmental forms
  • Official creation of your student academic record

Important Rules for Freshers

  • Impersonation leads to admission withdrawal and possible arrest.
  • Drug test is compulsory; failure or refusal results in automatic loss of admission.
  • Dates for matriculation and orientation will be announced later.
