The Distance Learning Institute (DLI) of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has officially opened applications for admission into its academic programmes for the 2025/2026 session.
The institute invites qualified candidates seeking flexible university education through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode to apply. This learning option allows students to study remotely while maintaining the same academic standards as regular programmes.

Admission Requirements and Eligibility
General Entry Requirements
Applicants must possess at least five (5) O’ Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings from SSCE, GCE, NECO, or equivalent examinations.
Direct Entry – Year Two Admission
Candidates applying for Year Two must possess one of the following:
- NCE
- ND (minimum of Lower Credit)
- JUPEB
- IJMB
- GCE A’ Level
in relevant subject areas.
Direct Entry – Year Three Admission
Applicants seeking Year Three admission must possess:
- HND (minimum of Lower Credit), or
- A Bachelor’s degree (minimum of Third Class)
Evidence of NYSC Discharge, Exemption, or Exclusion Certificate is required.
Professional Qualification Holders
Candidates with relevant professional certifications such as ICAN, ACA, ACIB, ANAN, ACCA, ACMA, ACIS, CII, CIBN, or ANACIA are eligible for Year Three admission.
Additional Conditions
- Applicants awaiting results are not eligible
- Candidates must be at least 16 years old by 31 October 2025
- Admission is open to candidates with learning disabilities or special needs
- Applicants must possess basic ICT skills to use the ICT-Enabled Supported Blended Learning (IESBL) platform
- UTME is not required for admission into UNILAG DLI
How to Apply for UNILAG DLI Admission
The application process is completed in two stages:
Stage 1: JAMB Registration
- Visit the JAMB CAPS portal
- Register and obtain a JAMB Registration Number
- Pay ₦3,500 for JAMB registration
Stage 2: UNILAG DLI Application
- Visit the UNILAG application portal:
http://applications.unilag.edu.ng - Click “Start Fresh Application”
- Select Distance Learning Institute (DLI) as application type
- Enter required details (name, JAMB number, phone number, email)
- Click “Pay Now” to pay the ₦20,000 application fee online, or generate a Remita invoice for bank payment
- Return to the portal and click “Continue Application”
- Log in using your payment reference number and surname (lowercase) as password
- Fill the application form, upload required documents, submit online, and print a copy for reference
Applicants may save their progress and complete the form later if needed.
Application Deadline
All applications must be completed and submitted on or before 31 December 2025.
