The University of Cross River (UNI CROSS) has officially adjusted the schedule for its First Semester examinations for the 2025/2026 academic year, including outstanding assessments from the previous session.
The examinations, which were earlier planned to begin on Monday, February 23, 2026, have now been moved forward by two weeks. The decision was approved by the University Senate after reviewing students’ registration status and other administrative processes requiring completion before examinations commence.
University authorities explained that the adjustment is intended to give students adequate time to regularize documentation and meet all academic requirements ahead of the examination period.
Updated Examination Calendar
Students and staff are advised to take note of the revised dates below:
- Examinations Begin: Monday, March 9, 2026
- Examinations End: Saturday, April 25, 2026
Easter Holiday Break
A short Easter recess has been incorporated into the examination timetable:
- Break Commences: Thursday, April 2, 2026
- Break Ends: Monday, April 6, 2026
- Examinations Resume: Tuesday, April 7, 2026
The break is expected to provide students with time to rest and prepare for the remaining papers.
Why the Examinations Were Rescheduled
The university cited several important reasons for postponing the exams:
Completion of Course Registration
Some students have not finalized their course registration on the university portal. Without proper registration, students’ names will not appear on official attendance lists, and their results cannot be processed. The extension allows affected students to correct these issues.
Clearance of Newly Admitted Students
Fresh students are still undergoing screening and document verification. This includes confirmation of O’Level results, JAMB admission status, and departmental documentation. The new timeline ensures that these processes are concluded before examinations begin.
Distribution of Student ID Cards
Possession of a valid university identification card is compulsory for entry into examination halls. The postponement gives the ICT unit sufficient time to complete biometric capture and issue ID cards to eligible students.
Instructions to the University Community
Students
The additional two weeks should be used productively for academic preparation and administrative compliance. Students with unresolved registration or ID card issues are urged to visit the ICT Centre or their faculty offices promptly.
Academic Staff
Heads of Departments are expected to finalize and upload Continuous Assessment (CA) scores before the start of the examination period.
Examination Committees
All examination arrangements, including venue assignments and invigilation schedules, should be updated to reflect the revised dates.
Final Advisory
The university appreciates the cooperation of students and staff during this adjustment. Management emphasized that the primary objective is to ensure a smooth and fair examination process for everyone.
Students are encouraged to monitor official university communication platforms for further announcements regarding examination venues and course-specific timetables.
