Nigerian Police Force Recruitment: PSC Opens Recruitment Portal for 50,000 Police Constables

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has officially announced the commencement of a massive recruitment exercise to enlist 50,000 new constables into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

This recruitment drive follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive aimed at strengthening community policing and boosting internal security across the country.

Recruitment Portal Opens December 15

In a statement released on Thursday, Torty Kalu, PSC’s Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, revealed that the online recruitment portal will be accessible from:

  • Opening Date: December 15, 2025
  • Closing Date: January 25, 2026

Kalu described the approval as a significant milestone in improving police manpower. He emphasized that the entire process will be transparent, credible, and merit-based.

Applications Are Free — Beware of Fraudsters

The PSC reminded applicants that:

  • No fee is required during the entire application process.
  • Anyone requesting payment is a fraudster.

Prospective applicants are urged to exercise caution and ensure they only use official platforms.

Eligibility & Requirements

The commission outlined requirements for two categories of applicants: General Duty and Specialists.

1. General Duty Constables

Applicants must have:

  • GCE O’Level, SSCE/NECO, or equivalent
  • At least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics
  • Results obtained in not more than two sittings

2. Specialists Cadre

Applicants must have:

  • A minimum of four credits, including English and Mathematics
  • At least three years of relevant experience
  • Appropriate trade test certifications

General Eligibility Criteria

All applicants must:

  • Be Nigerian citizens by birth
  • Be between 18–25 years (General Duty)
  • Be between 18–28 years (Specialists)
  • Be medically, physically, and psychologically fit

Note: Height requirements apply only to General Duty applicants.
