The Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, is preparing to officially welcome its newest intake of students into the academic community. Candidates admitted into the 100 Level and Direct Entry programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session are invited to take part in the institution’s 15th Matriculation Ceremony, a landmark event that formalizes their student status.
This ceremony represents the moment when fresh students are formally inducted into the university, symbolizing their commitment to academic excellence, integrity, and the pursuit of knowledge in science and technology.
Ceremony Schedule and Venue
Students, parents, and guardians are encouraged to take note of the following arrangements:
- Date: Wednesday, February 4, 2026
- Time: 10:00 AM (Students should be seated by 9:30 AM)
- Venue: University Auditorium, Main Campus, Okitipupa
The academic procession, featuring senior university officials and faculty members in traditional regalia, will precede the formal proceedings and marks the ceremonial opening of the event.
What the Matriculation Ceremony Represents
Matriculation is the university’s official way of confirming a student’s membership in the academic community. During the event, students will recite the Matriculation Oath, a formal pledge to uphold the rules, values, and standards of OAUSTECH.
By completing this process and having their names entered into the university register, participants transition from admitted candidates to fully recognized students of the institution.
Guidelines for Participating Students
To ensure a smooth and memorable ceremony, students are advised to observe the following:
Academic Gown Collection
All participants must appear in the official OAUSTECH academic gown. These can be obtained through the Faculty Office or the Student Affairs Division ahead of the ceremony.
Dress Expectations
Students should wear formal attire beneath their gowns:
- Male students: Shirt and tie with trousers, or a full suit
- Female students: Modest professional wear such as a formal dress or a skirt/trouser suit
Conduct During the Ceremony
Participants are expected to maintain decorum, listen attentively during the oath, and follow instructions from university officials throughout the event.
Capturing the Moment
Photography and celebrations are encouraged after the official programme. The Main Campus offers several scenic locations for students and families to take memorable photos to mark the beginning of their academic journey.
Message from the University Management
The leadership of OAUSTECH extends a warm welcome to all newly admitted students. This ceremony marks the start of a transformative academic experience, where students are encouraged to explore, innovate, and develop the skills needed to contribute meaningfully to society.
We look forward to celebrating this milestone with you on February 4, 2026, as you officially take your place within the OAUSTECH academic community.
