Crescent University, Abeokuta, has secured approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to introduce three new academic programmes beginning from the 2025/2026 academic session. This approval marks a major expansion for the institution, especially in the areas of law and computing two fields currently in high demand across Nigeria and globally.
The newly approved programmes are:
- LLM Law
- BSc Cyber Security
- BSc Software Engineering
The approval was officially communicated through a letter issued to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, by Abubakar Girei, Acting Director of Academic Planning, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Professor Abdullahi Ribadu.
Details of the NUC Approval
According to the NUC letter dated 13 November 2025, with reference number NUC/AP/P21/VOL.II/12, the Commission reviewed Crescent University’s proposal and approved the establishment of the new programmes.

- All programmes will run on a full-time basis
- They will operate strictly on the main campus
- They officially take effect from the 2025/2026 academic session

1. LLM Law

2. BSc Cyber Security
With cyber threats increasing nationwide, this programme trains students in digital protection, ethical hacking, network defence, and cyber-risk management. It prepares graduates for careers in one of the fastest-growing tech sectors.
3. BSc Software Engineering

NUC’s Role and Approval Process
The National Universities Commission is responsible for regulating universities and ensuring academic quality. The newly approved programmes followed the Commission’s rigorous review process through the Academic Planning Directorate.
During a working visit to the Executive Secretary, Professor Gbajabiamila received commendation from the NUC for the university’s progress and readiness to expand into high-impact disciplines.
The Commission’s letter concluded with official confirmation and best wishes to the Vice Chancellor.
