The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2025 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) for internal candidates. The announcement was made by the Registrar/Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, during a press briefing in Minna.
This year’s results reflect NECO’s continued commitment to merit, transparency, and educational standards, with a significant improvement in performance and a drastic reduction in examination malpractice cases.
Key Highlights of NECO 2025 SSCE Results
- Total registered candidates: 1,367,210 (685,514 males and 681,696 females)
- Total that sat for the exam: 1,358,339 (680,292 males and 678,047 females)
- Credits in five subjects, including Mathematics and English: 818,492 candidates (60.26%)
- Credits in five subjects, irrespective of Mathematics and English: 1,144,496 candidates (84.26%)
- Special needs candidates: 1,622 (including visually and hearing-impaired candidates)
Examination Malpractice Report
NECO also reported a sharp decline in malpractice cases:
- 2025 malpractice cases: 3,878 candidates
- 2024 malpractice cases: 10,094 candidates
- Reduction: 61.58%
In addition:
- 38 schools across 13 states were caught in mass cheating.
- 9 supervisors were blacklisted for aiding malpractice, poor supervision, and misconduct.
State Performance Ranking
- Kano: 68,159 candidates with five credits including English and Mathematics (highest performing)
- Lagos: 67,007 candidates (second place)
- Oyo: 48,742 candidates (third place)
- Lowest performing centre: Gabon, with no candidate achieving five credits including English and Mathematics.

Candidates can now check their results via the NECO result-checking portal. Follow the steps below:
- Visit the official NECO result portal: https://results.neco.gov.ng
- Select Examination Year (2025).
- Select Examination Type (SSCE Internal – June/July).
- Enter your Token Number and Registration Number.
- Click “Check Result.”
Your result will be displayed instantly and can be printed for official use.
NECO Commends Government Support
Prof. Wushishi appreciated the support of President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, for their commitment to education reforms.
He reaffirmed NECO’s readiness to continue delivering credible, timely, and transparent results in line with national education goals.
