Kaduna Polytechnic has issued an official warning to its graduates and prospective NYSC corps members following the circulation of a fraudulent message online. The misleading notice falsely instructed affected individuals to re-submit academic documents as part of NYSC clearance.
According to the institution, the message did not originate from the Polytechnic and should be completely disregarded.
How the Scam Was Carried Out
The fake message was reportedly sent by a person identified as Tosin Samuel Afolabi, who contacted graduates directly using phone calls and messages. Victims were told to submit sensitive documents such as:
- HND Statements of Result
- JAMB Admission Letters
- Clearance slips
In several cases, the individual demanded payment before claiming that clearance could be processed. Unfortunately, some prospective corps members were deceived and lost money through this scheme.
Suspect Arrested, Investigation Ongoing
Kaduna Polytechnic confirmed that the individual behind the scam has been arrested and handed over to the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police. Authorities are currently investigating the matter, and further legal action is expected as the process continues.
The institution emphasised that it acted swiftly once the reports surfaced.
Polytechnic Denies Any Involvement
The management made it clear that Kaduna Polytechnic has no connection whatsoever with the fraudulent activity. No staff member, agent, or third party was authorised to request documents or collect money from graduates for NYSC mobilisation or clearance purposes.
Students and alumni have been strongly advised to ignore all messages or calls linked to this fake notice.
Advice to Prospective Corps Members
Graduates are reminded to rely strictly on official Kaduna Polytechnic communication channels for information relating to NYSC mobilisation, clearance procedures, or academic records.
Unverified social media posts, private messages, or phone calls no matter how convincing should be treated with caution. Taking a moment to confirm information through official sources can prevent financial loss and unnecessary stress.
