JAMB Extends Deadline for 2025/2026 Admissions in Public Universities

JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially extended the deadline for admissions into public universities for the 2025/2026 academic session. The new and final deadline is Monday, November 17, 2025.

According to the Board, the decision followed appeals from the Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU). The universities requested additional time to finalize their admission processes, citing delays caused by a court order that temporarily halted the release of the 2025/2026 admission list until October 28, 2025.

Furthermore, the National Universities Commission (NUC) recently granted accreditation for 229 new programmes across 37 universities on October 29, 2025, and these fresh approvals require adequate time for proper admission procedures.

JAMB’s Official Statement

JAMB emphasized that this extension is intended to promote fairness, inclusiveness, and thoroughness in the admission process. The Board noted that the new date of November 17, 2025, is final and will not be subject to further extensions.

“All public universities must complete their admissions through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) on or before the new deadline,” the statement added.

Implications for Students and Institutions

All prospective students are advised to complete their admission acceptance and clearance processes without delay. Institutions are also reminded to upload their final admission lists to CAPS for verification and approval before the new closing date.

The Board reiterated that compliance with the updated timeline is mandatory and urged all stakeholders to take immediate action to prevent disqualification or forfeiture of admission slots.

Closing Note

This new development by JAMB underscores its commitment to ensuring transparency and orderliness in Nigeria’s university admission process. All candidates seeking admission into public universities for the 2025/2026 academic session should treat the November 17, 2025 deadline as final.
