The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued an official statement clarifying its role in the NYSC mobilization process for National Diploma (ND) Part-Time and Higher National Diploma (HND) Full-Time graduates.
The clarification was shared through the Board’s verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, @JAMBHQ, on 6th November 2025, following widespread misconceptions among graduates about JAMB’s involvement in mobilization delays.
Understanding JAMB’s Role in Admissions
According to the statement, JAMB does not manage admissions into HND programmes and therefore has no role in any delay or challenges related to NYSC mobilization for HND graduates.
The Board explained that while it coordinates admissions into full-time ND programmes, it is not responsible for ND Part-Time admissions, which are handled directly by the respective polytechnics or institutions.
JAMB’s Official Statement
JAMB’s message read in part:
“Attention, ND part-time and HND full-time graduates! Please be aware that JAMB plays no role in stalling your NYSC mobilisation. For the record, JAMB has no hand in admissions into HND programmes, and for your part-time ND programme…”
This public clarification aims to address ongoing misconceptions that the Board is responsible for issues encountered by some graduates during their NYSC registration or mobilization process.
What Graduates Should Know
JAMB emphasized that all concerns relating to NYSC registration or mobilization should be directed to the appropriate authorities—namely, the graduates’ respective institutions or the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Institutions are responsible for forwarding eligible students’ data to NYSC for mobilization once they have successfully completed their academic programmes and met all graduation requirements.
Why the Clarification Matters
Over time, some graduates have expressed frustration about delays in NYSC mobilization, often blaming JAMB for such setbacks. The Board’s recent statement reinforces its limited role, ensuring students and institutions understand where responsibilities lie in the admissions and mobilization chain.
By making this clarification, JAMB hopes to foster better communication between students, institutions, and NYSC officials, ensuring smoother mobilization processes in future.
What Affected Graduates Should Do
If you are an ND Part-Time or HND Full-Time graduate experiencing mobilization issues:
- Contact your institution’s registry or student affairs division for updates on your mobilization status.
- Reach out directly to the NYSC for clarifications on documentation or posting issues.
- Verify your admission and matriculation status on the JAMB portal to ensure all records are complete.
Final Note
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) reiterates its commitment to transparency and accuracy in the admission process but reminds students that NYSC mobilization is beyond its jurisdiction.
Graduates are encouraged to follow the official communication channels of their schools and NYSC to avoid misinformation and unnecessary delays in their service year.
