Gombe State University (GSU) has officially released the approved academic calendar for the 2025/2026 session, following consideration by the Senate during its 112th Regular Meeting held on Thursday, 29th January 2026. This calendar serves as a critical guide for all undergraduate students, outlining key dates and deadlines throughout the academic year.
First Semester: Orientation and Academic Engagement
The first semester focuses on onboarding new students while helping returning students settle back into academic routines. This semester spans approximately six months of structured learning and administrative activities.
Registration and Administrative Activities
- Start Date: Monday, 2nd February 2026
- End Date: Saturday, 28th February 2026
All students must complete registration within this period, including payment of fees and course selection. Registration is mandatory to participate in lectures and be formally recognized as a student of GSU.
Lectures and Mid-Semester Break
- Lectures Begin: Monday, 2nd March 2026
- Initial Two-Week Instruction: 2nd – 14th March 2026
- Break: 16th – 21st March 2026, allowing late registrants to catch up
Following the break, lectures resume from 23rd March to 6th June 2026, marking the most intensive instructional phase. Students are encouraged to maintain strong attendance to meet examination eligibility requirements.
First Semester Examinations
- Exams: 8th – 27th June 2026
- Post-Examination Break: 29th June – 4th July 2026
During this period, faculty members finalize grading, and departmental and Senate boards review and approve results.
Second Semester: Completion and Final Assessments
The second semester is designed for intensive coursework, practical sessions, and the completion of final-year projects and seminars.
Resumption and Lectures
- Student Resumption: Sunday, 5th July 2026
- Lectures Begin: Monday, 6th July 2026
- Lecture Period: 6th July – 29th August 2026
- Mid-Semester Break: 31st August – 5th September 2026
The final lecture period runs from 7th September to 10th October 2026, with particular emphasis on final-year students balancing coursework and research requirements.
Second Semester Examinations and Results
- Exams: 12th – 31st October 2026
- Grading and Results Compilation: 2nd – 21st November 2026
- Board Approvals: 23rd November – 5th December 2026

The academic session officially concludes on Monday, 14th December 2026, with the end-of-session break extending to 14th January 2027.
