The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT MINNA) has commenced the sale of postgraduate admission forms for the 2025/2026 academic session. The university is inviting qualified candidates to apply for its PhD, Master’s, and Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) programmes across various schools and specialized centres.

PhD Programme Requirements

Admission into the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes is reserved for candidates with strong academic backgrounds and research potential.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Hold a Master’s degree from FUT MINNA or any Senate-recognized institution.
  • Have a minimum weighted average of 60%, a ‘B’ grade, or a CGPA of 3.50 on a 5.00 scale.
  • Submit a detailed research proposal aligned with their chosen area of study.

Where necessary, departments may prescribe remedial courses to strengthen a candidate’s academic foundation before full progression into doctoral research.

Master’s Degree Admission Requirements

FUT MINNA provides multiple entry pathways into its Master’s programmes:

  • Second Class Honours (Lower Division) degree from a recognized university.
  • Third Class degree holders with at least two years of relevant work experience (may be required to pass a qualifying examination).
  • HND (Lower Credit) plus PGD (Lower Credit) in a related field, along with at least one year of work experience.

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Admission

The PGD programme is designed for academic advancement or specialization.

Eligible candidates include:

  • Graduates with a Third Class Honours degree in relevant disciplines.
  • HND or OND (Lower Credit) holders with at least one year of post-qualification experience.

Duration of Programmes

The university has established minimum and maximum study durations:

PhD

  • Full-Time: 6–10 semesters
  • Part-Time: 10–14 semesters

Master’s

  • Full-Time: 3–6 semesters
  • (Part-Time option not available)

PGD

  • Full-Time: 3–6 semesters
  • (Part-Time option not available)

Academic Performance Standards

  • Master’s students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.50 per semester.
  • PGD students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 1.50.

Failure to meet these standards may result in withdrawal from the programme.
