The Federal University of Kashere (FUKASHERE) in Gombe State has received official approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to introduce three new full-time academic programmes in the field of health sciences.

This approval follows a rigorous resource verification exercise conducted by NUC panels who assessed the university’s staffing capacity, teaching facilities, and other essential academic requirements.

NUC Approves Three New Full-Time Programmes

In a letter dated 8 December 2025, the NUC confirmed that the following programmes have been accredited to commence from the 2025/2026 academic session:

  • B.D.S. Dental Surgery
  • B.N.Sc. Nursing Science
  • B.O.T. Occupational Therapy

The Commission emphasized that the approval strictly covers full-time study. Any future plans to introduce a part-time mode for these programmes will require separate authorisation. Additionally, the university must retain the exact programme titles as approved; any change must receive written consent from the NUC.

Implications of the Approval for FUKASHERE

This development marks a major milestone for FUKASHERE, expanding its academic portfolio and strengthening its presence in the health sciences sector. It also provides prospective students, particularly those in the North-East region, with broader access to professional health-related degree options.

The NUC encouraged the university to continue improving its human resources, instructional materials, and physical learning spaces to ensure sustainable growth and full maturation of the newly approved programmes.
