The Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences (FUMHS), Kwale, has formally announced its academic roadmap for the 2025/2026 academic year. The schedule, officially endorsed by the university authorities and authenticated by the Registrar, Mr. Ohwojeroh Lucky Mustapha, provides a clear breakdown of activities for students and staff.
According to the approved plan, the session will span 30 academic weeks, evenly divided into two semesters of 15 weeks each.
First Semester Activities at a Glance (15 Weeks)
The academic year officially kicks off on Sunday, 4 January 2026, when students are expected to return to campus.
Registration and Documentation Week
From Monday, 5 January to Friday, 9 January 2026, students will complete:
- Online and physical clearance
- Payment of fees
- Course registration
- Submission of required documents
Lecture Period
Lectures commence on Monday, 12 January 2026, and continue for seven consecutive weeks.
Orientation and Matriculation
- Orientation Programme: Week 8, beginning 23 February 2026
- Matriculation Ceremony: Saturday, 28 February 2026, for newly admitted students
Post-Orientation Lectures and Easter Break
Following orientation, lectures resume for four additional weeks.
Students will then observe a one-week Easter break from 2 April to 7 April 2026.
Revision and Examinations
- Revision Week: 7 – 10 April 2026
- First Semester Examinations: 13 – 30 April 2026
The semester officially ends on Friday, 1 May 2026, after which students proceed on break.
Second Semester Academic Plan (15 Weeks)
Students are scheduled to return for the second semester on Sunday, 31 May 2026.
Lecture Duration
Lectures will run uninterrupted for eleven weeks, starting 1 June and ending 14 August 2026.
Revision and Examinations
- Revision Period: 16 – 21 August 2026
- Second Semester Examinations: 24 August – 11 September 2026
The academic session comes to a close on Saturday, 12 September 2026.
Post-Session Activities and Next Academic Year
- Senate Meeting on Results: Monday, 5 October 2026
- Resumption for 2026/2027 Session: Monday, 12 October 2026
These dates apply primarily to returning students preparing for the next academic cycle.
