The Federal Government has confirmed the reopening of all 47 Federal Unity Secondary Schools that were earlier shut down due to security concerns, reaffirming its commitment to student safety and uninterrupted learning.
According to the authorities, the schools resumed operations earlier this month after comprehensive security measures were put in place within school premises and surrounding communities.
Students Return Safely to Campuses
Following the reopening, students have returned to their hostels and classrooms without reported incidents. Academic activities have resumed smoothly, with lessons continuing as scheduled.
While some students are still completing their December academic programmes, others have already concluded their examinations, signalling a stable return to normal school routines.
Government Emphasises Student Safety
The Federal Ministry of Education reassured parents and the general public that the safety and welfare of learners remain a top priority. The ministry explained that it continues to work closely with relevant security agencies to ensure a secure learning environment across all Unity Colleges.
Officials stressed that protective measures introduced during the closures are still active and under constant review.
Commitment to Uninterrupted Education
The government reiterated its responsibility to safeguard every Nigerian child and uphold their right to education in secure surroundings. It noted that education remains a central pillar of national development, which is why efforts are made to prevent disruptions to the academic calendar.
The successful reopening of the schools and the smooth continuation of exams reflect this resolve, despite prevailing security challenges.
Appreciation to Parents and School Communities
The Ministry of Education expressed gratitude to parents, guardians, school administrators, and students for their patience and cooperation during the period of closure.
It also reaffirmed its pledge to sustain school safety nationwide and ensure that learning continues without unnecessary interruptions.
