The Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAPOLY), Bauchi, through its Directorate of Preliminary Studies and Knowledge Alternatives, has launched two new academic initiatives aimed at enhancing diploma holders’ qualifications and employability for the 2025/2026 session.
These schemes are designed to help graduates upgrade from an Ordinary Diploma (OND) to a National Diploma (ND) and provide opportunities for students to improve pass grades to higher classifications.
1. OND to National Diploma (ND) Upgrade
This programme allows holders of an Ordinary Diploma from any accredited institution to elevate their qualification to a National Diploma.
- Duration: Two semesters (one academic year)
- Eligibility: Graduates from recognized and accredited courses
This initiative provides a clear pathway for diploma holders seeking better academic recognition and enhanced career prospects.
2. Result Improvement Scheme (“Pass” to “Credit” Bridge)
ATAPOLY has also introduced a Result Improvement Scheme for graduates who previously earned a Pass grade.
- Objective: Enable students to upgrade their final classification to Lower Credit, Upper Credit, or Distinction
- Academic Cycle: One full academic year of focused study
This program is aimed at boosting the employability of graduates by improving the value of their certificates.

- Application Fee: ₦3,000 per form

- Commencement of Lectures: Immediately after the start of form sales
According to Comr. Musa Alfa, Director of Information, the initiative seeks to enhance the competitiveness of ATAPOLY graduates in the labour market.
