Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) has received official authorization to begin sixteen new academic programmes starting from the 2025/2026 academic session. The approval, granted by the National Universities Commission (NUC), paves the way for the introduction of both professional and undergraduate degree courses across multiple disciplines.
University authorities confirmed that the regulatory body conveyed its approval in a formal communication dated February 13, 2026. With this development, AKSU is set to broaden its academic portfolio to accommodate growing demand in health sciences, engineering, environmental studies, arts, education, and social sciences.

The programmes approved for commencement include:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D)
- Architecture (B.Sc.)
- Building (B.Sc.)
- Quantity Surveying (B.Sc.)
- Surveying and Geoinformatics (B.Sc.)
- Project Management (B.Sc.)
- Urban and Regional Planning (B.Sc.)
- Estate Management (B.Sc.)
- Local Government and Development Studies
- Peace and Conflict Resolution (B.Sc.)
- Fine and Applied Arts (B.Sc.)
- Music (B.A.)
- Guidance and Counselling (B.Ed.)
- Computer Engineering (B.Eng.)
- Automotive Engineering (B.Eng.)
- Telecommunications Engineering (B.Eng.)

Entry Requirements
UTME Score Criteria
Candidates who intend to study Doctor of Pharmacy or Architecture must have obtained a minimum score of 265 in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and must have selected AKSU as their first-choice institution.
For all other programmes listed, applicants must have scored at least 250 in the 2025 UTME.
Prospective students who did not initially choose AKSU but wish to pursue any of the newly approved courses are encouraged to effect a change of institution through the official JAMB portal without delay.
Screening Registration Information
The online registration portal for the screening exercise will become accessible on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Only candidates who complete the online screening process will be evaluated for admission consideration.
Required Documents
Applicants are advised to upload clear scanned copies of the following:
- 2025 UTME result slip
- Birth certificate
- Certificate of origin
- AKSU PUTME registration acknowledgment slip (2025)
All uploads must be in JPG format and comply with the specified size guidelines provided on the portal.
Application Procedure
To participate in the screening process, candidates should:
- Visit the university’s official application webpage.
- Select the “Start Now” option.
- Click on “Enrol.”
- Choose the PUTME registration link.
- Enter and verify their JAMB registration number.
- Pay the non-refundable screening fee of ₦2,000 (excluding bank charges) using the approved payment methods.
- Upload the necessary documents as instructed.
- Carefully review all submitted information.
- Finalize the application and print the confirmation slip for reference.
