Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) has announced the commencement of online application and screening for admission into its Nursing, Medical, and Health Sciences programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The University disclosed that the approval to run these programmes was granted by the National Universities Commission (NUC), allowing AKSU to offer full-time Bachelor’s degree programmes under the Faculty of Health Sciences starting from the 2025/2026 academic year.
Approved Health Sciences Programmes at AKSU
The newly approved undergraduate programmes include:
- Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.N.Sc.)
- Bachelor of Science in Public Health (B.Sc.)
- Bachelor of Community Health Science (B.CHS.)
- Bachelor of Health Information Management (B.HIM)
- Bachelor of Science in Science Laboratory Technology (B.Sc.)
- Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (B.MLS)
- Bachelor of Environmental Health Science (B.EHS)
UTME Requirements and Eligibility
In Accordance to the admission guidelines released by the University:
- Candidates seeking admission into Nursing Science must have scored at least 290 in the 2025 UTME and must have selected Akwa Ibom State University as their first choice.
- Applicants for all other Health Sciences programmes are required to score a minimum of 265 in UTME.
Candidates who did not initially choose AKSU as their first-choice institution are advised to process a Change of Institution to Akwa Ibom State University through the JAMB portal to become eligible.
Opening Date for Online Registration
The University confirmed that the online admission registration portal will open on Monday, 5 January 2026. Only candidates who complete the registration and screening process successfully will be considered for admission.
Documents Required for Online Screening
Applicants are required to upload the following documents during registration:
- 2025 UTME Result Slip
- Birth Certificate
- Certificate of Origin
- AKSU 2025 PUTME Registration Confirmation Slip
How to Apply
Interested candidates should complete their registration online via the AKSU admission portal:
Applicants must:
- Register using their JAMB Registration Number
- Pay a non-refundable screening fee of ₦2,000 (bank charges excluded)
- Upload scanned documents in JPG format, with file sizes between 120KB and 150KB
Important Warning to Applicants
Akwa Ibom State University has cautioned candidates to be vigilant and avoid fraudsters. The University emphasized that it does not operate through agents or third parties for admission processing. All payments and enquiries should be made strictly through official AKSU platforms.
