AKSCOE

The Akwa Ibom State College of Education (AKSCOE), Afaha Nsit, has officially released the schedule for its 2025/2026 Orientation Programme, which is designed to welcome and guide new students into the academic and social environment of the institution. This yearly event helps freshers understand the expectations, support structures, and resources available to them as they begin their studies.

Orientation Dates and Venue

AKSCOE has announced that the orientation will take place as follows:

  • Dates: Monday, 17 November – Wednesday, 19 November 2025
  • Venue: Mini Theatre, AKSCOE, Afaha Nsit
  • Time: 10:00 a.m. daily

Throughout the three-day programme, important units of the college—academic departments, health services, campus safety teams, and administrative offices—will address the students.

Theme for 2025/2026 Orientation Programme

The official theme for this academic session’s orientation is:

“Acquaint Yourself with the College Environment.”

The theme underscores the importance of understanding the learning environment, campus culture, and essential systems that will guide students from their first day to graduation.

What New Students Should Expect

The orientation programme is designed to:

1. Introduce students to the academic structure

New NCE and Degree students will learn about course registration, credit requirements, examinations, and academic expectations.

2. Familiarize students with rules and regulations

The college will highlight core policies on conduct, attendance, discipline, and campus safety to help learners avoid common mistakes.

3. Connect students with support services

Freshers will be introduced to units such as:

  • Academic advisory services
  • Counselling and guidance
  • Health services
  • Security and safety departments
  • Student affairs division

These units provide daily support throughout their stay in the college.

4. Help students adjust socially and mentally

Orientation gives learners the opportunity to meet course mates, interact with staff, build early friendships, and reduce anxiety about settling into school life.

Why Attendance Is Important

The management of AKSCOE has strongly encouraged all new students to attend the programme because:

  • It helps them start with the right information
  • It prevents registration mistakes
  • It gives them clarity on what the school expects
  • It prepares them academically and socially for the semester

Starting the session with proper guidance allows students to settle smoothly and avoid unnecessary challenges later.
