The Airtel Africa Foundation is inviting applications from eligible Nigerian undergraduates for its 2025/2026 Technology Scholarship, created to support students who have gained admission into technology-focused courses at selected public universities.
This initiative provides long-term financial assistance to talented students who may struggle to fund their university education, especially those pursuing careers in science, engineering, and digital technology.

Airtel Africa Foundation is the social investment platform of Airtel Africa plc, a major telecommunications and mobile financial services provider operating across Africa.
The Tech Scholarship programme reflects the Foundation’s commitment to:
- Expanding access to higher education
- Encouraging participation in STEM disciplines
- Reducing financial barriers for promising students
- Developing future African technology experts
The programme is implemented in partnership with selected Nigerian universities.
Scholarship Size and Duration
Number of Students Supported
- The Foundation plans to support a minimum of 100 Nigerian students each year
Length of Sponsorship
- Covers the full length of undergraduate study
- Applies to technology, science, and engineering degrees
- Duration ranges between four and five years, depending on the programme
Who Can Apply?
The scholarship is open only to newly admitted undergraduates who meet all the stated conditions.
Basic Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be admitted into one of the approved Nigerian public universities
- Be a 100-level student (new entrant)
- Demonstrate genuine financial need
- Score at least 230 in JAMB
- Have five O’level credits, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in one sitting
- Not be benefiting from another scholarship or grant for the same purpose
- Be ready to submit valid academic and personal documents
Gender balance will also be considered during the selection process.
Eligible Universities in Nigeria
Only students admitted into the following institutions can apply:
- University of Lagos (UNILAG)
- University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN)
- Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU)
- University of Benin (UNIBEN)
- Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU)
- University of Ilorin (UNILORIN)
- Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED)
Students from other universities are not eligible under this scheme.
Courses Covered by the Scholarship
The programme supports students studying technology and ICT-related disciplines, including but not limited to:
- Computer Science
- Software Engineering
- Information Technology
- Data Science
- Systems or Computer Engineering
- Cybersecurity
- Artificial Intelligence
- Telecommunications Engineering
- Computer Technology
- Library and Information Science
- Other closely related digital or technology courses
Documents Needed for Application
Applicants will be required to upload scanned copies of the following:
- A recent passport photograph
- JPEG format
- Maximum size: 200KB
- JPEG format
- University admission letter
- UTME (JAMB) result slip
- O’level result (WAEC, NECO, or equivalent)
- A’Level, OND, or NCE certificate (where applicable)
Each applicant must also have a working email address and phone number.
