AE-FUNAI Announces Postponement of 1st Semester Exams for 2025/2026 Session

FUNAI

The Management of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI) has announced that the first semester examinations for the 2025/2026 academic session, initially scheduled to start on February 23,2026, have been postponed by two weeks.

Reason for the Rescheduling

The University Senate approved this adjustment to accommodate overlapping institutional events and to provide students with a more suitable environment for academic preparation. The rescheduling ensures that key university activities are not disrupted and that students can adequately revise before their assessments.

Activities Influencing the Postponement

The decision takes into account several ongoing and high-priority events within the university calendar:

  • ASUU AE-FUNAI Week: Academic and union-related engagements.
  • University Sports Fiesta: A week-long sporting event promoting wellness and camaraderie.
  • Health Week: Campus-wide health screenings and awareness programmes.
  • Indigent Students Scholarship Programme: Awarding financial support to qualified students.
  • Vice-Chancellor’s Familiarization Tours: Visits to faculties to engage staff and students on developmental initiatives.

Guidelines for Students During the Postponement

  1. Revision and Study Period
The postponement does not constitute a break. Revision sessions will resume by March 2, 2026, and students are encouraged to use this period to consolidate understanding of their courses and clarify difficult topics with lecturers.
  2. Examination Timetable
A revised examination schedule will be published by the Directorate of Academic Planning. Students are advised to regularly check departmental notice boards and the official university portal for updates.
  3. Registration Compliance
Students who have not completed course registration or fee payment are required to finalize these processes within this two-week period. Only those with verified registration will be allowed to sit for examinations.

Commitment from University Management

AE-FUNAI Management regrets any inconvenience this change may cause, especially to students and parents who had already planned travel or other arrangements. However, the adjustment is necessary to maintain the university’s “Total Person” education model, balancing academic rigor with social, welfare, and co-curricular activities.

All Deans and Heads of Departments are instructed to ensure students fully utilize the extended revision window to maximize learning outcomes and exam readiness.

This rescheduling reflects AE-FUNAI’s commitment to providing a structured and supportive academic environment while upholding institutional excellence.
