AE-FUNAI postpones 14th Matriculation Ceremony, New Date to Be Announced

FUNAI

Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, has officially placed its 14th matriculation ceremony on hold. The announcement was released through the Office of the Registrar, acting on the directive of the Vice-Chancellor.

The university expressed regret over any inconvenience this decision may cause to newly admitted students, their families, and members of the academic community who had begun preparations for the event.

Original Ceremony Date Now Cancelled

The matriculation was earlier scheduled to hold on Thursday, 5 February 2026. However, the university has confirmed that the event will no longer take place on that date.

The postponement is open-ended, meaning a replacement date has not yet been fixed. According to management, a new schedule will be communicated as soon as it is approved through official platforms such as:

  • The university website
  • Faculty notice boards
  • Verified institutional social media pages

Official Instruction to University Units

The postponement notice, signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, directs all academic and administrative offices to adjust their internal plans.

Students who have already arranged for academic gowns or paid related fees are advised to pause further action. Any payments or processes tied to the earlier date are expected to be carried forward once a new date is announced.

Message to Parents and Guardians

The university acknowledged that many families make travel and accommodation arrangements to attend matriculation. Management assured stakeholders that the delay was necessary to guarantee a well-organized and secure event when it eventually holds.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to depend only on official university announcements and maintain communication with their wards for accurate updates.

Academic Activities Continue as Normal

AE-FUNAI clarified that the postponement of matriculation does not affect the academic calendar. Lectures, departmental registrations, and assessments will proceed as scheduled.

Fresh students are encouraged to use this period to:

  • Complete outstanding registration and documentation
  • Confirm their details on the provisional matriculation list
  • Attend lectures and keep up with continuous assessments
  • Review the student handbook and university code of conduct
University’s Commitment to Quality and Order

The management emphasized that the decision reflects its dedication to maintaining high institutional standards. By delaying the ceremony, the university aims to deliver a more organized and memorable experience for students and guests.

Stay Informed Through Official Channels

Students and members of the public are advised to ignore unverified information circulating on social media. Updates regarding the rescheduled matriculation date will come only from the Office of the Registrar and other official AE-FUNAI communication platforms.

The university thanked the community for its patience and cooperation as it works toward announcing a new, confirmed date for the ceremony.
