Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) has released the schedule and guidelines for the screening and certificate verification of students admitted for the 2025/2026 academic session. All fresh candidates must participate in both the online and physical stages of the exercise to validate their admission and academic records.
Updated Screening Schedule for 2025/2026
The university has divided the screening into two phases:
- Phase One: 1 December – 15 December 2025
- Phase Two: Begins 6 January 2026
All newly admitted students are expected to appear during the appropriate window as directed by the university authorities.
Documents Required for Online Upload
Before visiting the campus for the physical verification, candidates must log in to the ABU Post-UTME portal and upload clear, readable copies of the following:
- UTME result slip (UTME candidates only)
- JAMB admission letter
- National Identification Number (NIN) slip
- Local government indigene certificate
- Birth certificate or declaration of age
- O’level certificate(s) or statement of result(s)
- A’level result or statement (Direct Entry candidates)
- Attestation letter or affidavit (if applicable)
These uploads allow the university to verify personal and academic details ahead of physical screening.
Documents to Present for Physical Screening
During the onsite verification, students must present:
- Scratch cards or result-checking PINs for all O’level results submitted online, to enable direct confirmation by the university
- Original A’level certificates
- If the original is not available yet, a certified true copy must be provided
- If the original is not available yet, a certified true copy must be provided
These items help ABU confirm the accuracy of all records submitted through the portal.
Portal Access, Payment Procedures, and Accommodation Regulations
During the screening period, all verified candidates will be granted access to the ABU student portal, where they can:
- Generate a REMITA invoice to pay approved school charges
- Print the official ABU admission letter
- Apply for hostel bed space through the portal
The university cautions students against selling, buying, or transferring bed spaces. Any such transaction is strictly prohibited and attracts disciplinary action.
