Kaduna State University (KASU) has officially announced its 2025/2026 matriculation ceremony, marking the formal induction of newly admitted undergraduate and postgraduate students into the university community.
The ceremony represents a major milestone for KASU as it welcomes a fresh generation of scholars under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa. More than a routine academic ritual, this year’s matriculation reflects the institution’s growing commitment to innovation, skills development, and future-focused education.
Matriculation Theme: Preparing Students for the Future
The theme for the 2025/2026 matriculation is “Marching to Excellence: Embracing Emerging Technologies, Upskilling/Reskilling.”
According to the university, the theme captures KASU’s vision of producing graduates who are not only academically sound but also equipped with relevant digital and technological skills needed in today’s fast-changing world.
Through this focus, the university aims to:
- Integrate emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, data analytics, and digital systems into teaching and learning
- Provide opportunities for upskilling, especially in digital literacy and innovation
- Support reskilling, particularly for postgraduate students adapting to evolving career demands

Collection of Academic Gowns
The university has outlined clear guidelines for the collection of academic gowns to ensure a smooth matriculation process.
For Undergraduate Students:
Undergraduates are to collect their gowns through their respective faculties and colleges. This process allows faculty officers to confirm students’ registration status.
- Requirements: Original admission letter and evidence of payment of school fees for the 2025/2026 session
- Timeline: Gown collection typically begins 48–72 hours before the ceremony
For Postgraduate Students:
Postgraduate students will collect their gowns centrally.
- Location: Room 7, College of Postgraduate Studies, Main Campus, Kaduna
Importance of the Matriculation Oath
While the matriculation ceremony is often celebrated with photographs and family gatherings, its most important aspect is the signing of the matriculation register.
By taking the matriculation oath, students formally become bona fide members of Kaduna State University. The oath commits students to:
- Observe and respect university rules and regulations
- Reject cultism and all prohibited associations
- Uphold academic integrity and diligence in their studies
Students who fail to participate in the ceremony or sign the register risk losing their provisional admission, as their names may not appear on official academic records or JAMB documentation.
Expectations for Students and Guests
The university has called for proper conduct during the ceremonies:
- Students and guests are expected to arrive early and be seated well before the Vice-Chancellor’s procession
- Students should dress formally beneath their academic gowns
- Signing of the matriculation register remains the most critical activity of the day
