Purpose of the Scholarship

The organisers of the Elechi Scholarship aim to address common limitations observed in Nigerian scholarship programs, such as:

• Limited opportunities for continuous financial support.
• Single lump-sum disbursements that lack monitoring.
• Insufficient follow-up on how funds are utilized for academic purposes.
• Minimal funding available for research in key science and arts disciplines.

Through this program, the scholarship provides direct payment of tuition and accommodation fees to UNN, while the remaining award is distributed to recipients as monthly stipends. Funding is awarded for one year, with potential renewal based on academic performance and available resources.

Eligibility Criteria

The 2026 round is strictly limited to:

• University: University of Nigeria, Nsukka only.
• Level: 300-level students.

Students outside UNN or at other levels are not eligible for this cycle.

Required Documents

Applicants must prepare and submit the following:

1. Transcript of Records – Must be signed and stamped by the department. Partial transcripts showing at least 70% of results are acceptable.
2. Motivation Letter – A maximum of 500 words, clearly stating why the student is deserving of the scholarship. Submit as PDF or DOCX.
3. Recommendation Letter – From one lecturer in the student’s department. The lecturer will also serve as a contact for performance reviews.
