Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, has officially approved the resumption schedule for the 2025/2026 academic session following deliberations at the 331st regular meeting of the University Senate held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
The university explained that the phased return to campus is part of broader preparations, including facility upgrades and administrative planning, aimed at creating a more organized and student-friendly start to the new session.
This guide outlines when students are expected to return and what both new and returning students should prepare for as academic activities resume.
Phased Resumption Schedule
To reduce congestion and allow new students to complete required administrative processes, the Senate approved a two-stage return to campus:
Stage One: Newly Admitted Students
- Resumption Date: Sunday, February 8, 2026
New students are encouraged to use the first few days to move into their hostels, locate faculty buildings, and become familiar with key areas such as the university library and administrative offices.
Stage Two: Returning Students
- Resumption Date: Thursday, February 12, 2026
Returning students are expected to finalize course registration over the weekend, as lectures are scheduled to begin fully the following week.
What Fresh Students Should Do in Their First Week
Document Screening
All new students must present original documents at their respective faculties, even if online clearance has already been completed. Required documents include:
- Original JAMB Result/Admission Letter
- O’Level certificates or statements of results (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB)
- AAU Admission Letter and Acceptance Fee receipt
- Affidavit of Good Behaviour (available via the school portal)
Hostel Allocation
Accommodation is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Students must:
- Pay at least the first installment of school fees
- Log in to the WAeUP.Kofa portal
- Generate and pay for a Bed Allocation Fee
- Use the activation code to select a hostel (such as Emotan, Igbinedion, or Rev. Martins)
Orientation Programme
An official orientation will be held within the first two weeks. University officials will address academic rules, student conduct, and campus policies, including strict guidelines on examination integrity and zero tolerance for cult-related activities.
Understanding the Academic System at AAU
AAU operates a credit-based course system. Students are assessed based on the number of course units successfully completed each semester.
- Course Units: Most courses carry 2 or 3 units. A standard four-year program typically requires a minimum of 120 units for graduation.
- Academic Standing: Students whose CGPA falls below 1.50 may be placed on probation. Continued low performance may lead to withdrawal.
- Exam Eligibility: Students must complete fee payment and course registration to gain access to both written and computer-based examinations.
Campus Improvements and Student Facilities
The university has recently implemented projects aimed at improving campus life, including:
- Enhanced Security: Upgraded access points and new parking areas to improve safety and movement across campus.
- Power Supply Initiatives: Ongoing alternative energy projects designed to provide more stable electricity for hostels, libraries, and study spaces.
Final Advisory
Ambrose Alli University encourages students to begin the new academic session with focus and discipline.
New Students: Seek guidance from faculty officers and course advisers whenever necessary, and complete all payments through the official university portal only.
Returning Students: Complete registration early and attend the first set of lectures to stay ahead of the semester’s academic demands.
The university management wishes all students a safe return to campus and a productive, uninterrupted, and successful 2025/2026 academic session.
