BMU Warns Against Fake Admission Letter in Circulation
Bayelsa Medical University (BMU) has issued an important alert to applicants and parents regarding a fake admission letter and a fabricated list of “requirements and procedures” currently circulating on social media.
According to the university, no admission letter has been issued outside the official JAMB portal or CAPS, and any instruction asking applicants to transfer money into personal bank accounts does not originate from BMU. The institution released this notice to help candidates avoid falling victim to admission-related scams.
Official Admission Channels Clarified
The university stressed that all legitimate admission processes must pass through JAMB and the university’s official website.
No BMU staff member is permitted to:
- Issue admission letters privately
- Communicate admission decisions through unofficial channels
- Request payments for acceptance fees, accommodation, or screening via personal accounts
Applicants are advised to be cautious and verify any suspicious message directly through BMU’s verified communication platforms.
Precautions for Applicants and Parents
BMU also cautioned the public to disregard any document or message containing false procedures for securing admission into the institution. Any directive that requires payments outside the university’s recognised payment gateways should be treated as fraudulent.
The university reaffirmed that all updates concerning admissions, fees, hostel allocation, and registration will only be published on its official website and certified social media pages.
