The Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) has issued an urgent update for prospective students seeking admission for the 2025/2026 academic session. The memo, dated November 21, 2025, provides a final opportunity for candidates who still hope to secure admission before the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) closes its remaining admission window.
Why FUTO Issued the Notice
According to the memorandum signed by the University Admissions Officer, Prof. I. J. Ogoke, JAMB had earlier set November 17, 2025, as the final deadline for all institutions to conclude admissions. However, FUTO confirmed that some departments still have limited spaces available.
To take advantage of this opportunity, eligible candidates must immediately change their course choices on JAMB CAPS to the specific departments that still have vacancies.
The university stresses that this action does not guarantee automatic admission, but it significantly increases the chances for qualified applicants who act quickly.
Departments With Available Admission Slots
FUTO revealed that only a few departments across selected schools still have room for additional candidates. The available programmes include:
1. School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (SAAT)
Candidates should switch to Agriculture on JAMB CAPS, which covers the following options:
- Agricultural Economics (AEC)
- Agricultural Extension (AEX)
- Animal Science and Technology (AST)
- Crop Science and Technology (CST)
- Soil Science and Technology (SST)
2. School of Logistics and Innovation Technology (SLIT)
- Logistics and Transport Management
- Supply Chain Management
- Entrepreneurship Studies & Innovation
3. School of Physical Sciences (SOPS)
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Geology
- Statistics
- Mathematics
Urgent Call to Action for Candidates
FUTO strongly advises all interested and qualified candidates to effect the required changes immediately on their JAMB CAPS profile. The remaining window is extremely narrow, and failure to act quickly may result in missing the final admission opportunity for the 2025/2026 session.
