4. Academic Staff Qualification Requirements
Professor
- Ph.D. in the relevant field
- Minimum 12 years of continuous university teaching/research
- At least 30 scholarly publications (minimum 13 in reputable indexed foreign journals)
- Proven postgraduate supervision to completion
- Evidence of major research grants or project leadership
- Demonstrated academic/administrative leadership
- Mandatory professional registration (where applicable)
Reader / Associate Professor
- Ph.D. in the relevant discipline
- Minimum 9 years university teaching/research experience
- Minimum 25 peer-reviewed publications (at least 7 in indexed foreign journals)
- Evidence of postgraduate supervision
- Participation in conferences, academic leadership roles
- Relevant professional registration
Senior Lecturer
- Ph.D.
- At least 5 years teaching/research experience
- Minimum 12 publications, with 5 in indexed foreign journals
- Evidence of administrative contributions
- Should have been Lecturer I for at least 2 years
- Strong teaching, research, and community service record
Lecturer I
- Ph.D. in the relevant field
- Minimum 3 years post-doctoral teaching or research experience
- At least 6 peer-reviewed journal publications
- Developing academic portfolio and student supervision record
- Professional certification may be considered where relevant
Lecturer II
- Ph.D. OR Master’s degree + 3 years experience with 2 publications
- OR Assistant Lecturer with 2 years satisfactory performance
- Professional body registration is an advantage
Assistant Lecturer
