Nigerian Army Releases Shortlisted Candidates for Short Service Combatant Course 49/2026

The Nigerian Army has released the names of candidates shortlisted for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSC) Course 49/2026. This announcement was made on Monday through a statement issued by the Military Secretary (Army).

According to the statement, applicants who scaled through the initial recruitment stages can now check their names on the official recruitment portal: recruitment.army.mil.ng.

Reporting Date and Requirements

Shortlisted candidates are expected to report to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Ribadu Campus, Kaduna State, on December 1, 2025. The Army advised all candidates to arrive in Kaduna on November 30, 2025, and report to the selection venue between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on December 1.

The Army emphasized that any candidate who arrives later than 11:00 a.m. on December 1 will be disqualified.

Mandatory Documents and Items

Candidates must appear with both original and photocopies of the following documents:

  • Academic certificates
  • Professional certificates
  • NYSC discharge or exemption certificate
  • Birth certificate
  • Certificate of state of origin
  • BVN printout
  • NIN slip
  • All completed forms from the SSCC portal

Additionally, they are required to bring:

  • Writing materials
  • Blue shorts
  • White T-shirts
  • White canvas shoes
  • Toiletries and beddings
  • Full-size coloured passport photographs
  • Scratch cards for verifying WAEC or NECO results

Parents or guardians must also provide a duly signed Letter of Consent from a recognized court, confirming that they will not demand compensation for injuries or death that may occur during the exercise.

Selection Activities

The screening will involve:

  • Document verification
  • Physical fitness assessment
  • Medical examinations
  • Academic evaluation
  • Oral interview

The Army warned that any alteration or falsification of documents will lead to instant disqualification.

Accommodation, Conduct, and Restrictions

Candidates will be accommodated and provided with meals throughout the screening period. However, each candidate is responsible for their transportation to and from the venue.

The statement added that:

  • Private vehicles are not allowed
  • Visitors will not be permitted during the exercise
  • High discipline is mandatory

Any candidate who fails to comply with instructions will be disqualified.

The Army also noted that, given the military nature of the process, it will not be held responsible for injuries or fatalities that may occur during the selection.
